Last Thursday, guests gathered in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building to welcome Yumi Hogan, the First Lady of the State of Maryland. Hogan was one of the attendees of the Maryland-Asian Sister States event, held in collaboration with the UMBC Asian Studies Program. Maryland maintains Sister State relationships with China, Japan and Korea, and officials from all three embassies were in attendance. Also present were state government officials, elected officials and members of the local business community.
