Photographs — Kamasi Washington

Jazz Saxophonist Kamasi Washington performed his debut album, “The Epic,” at the Baltimore Soundstage. Supported by five additional band members, Washington also brought his father Rickey Washington on stage. With over three hours of content in “The Epic,” Washington performed a majority of the album as well as a medley of non-stop improv solos with each band member showcasing their unique skills.

The Inglewood-based musician’s popularity has rapidly increased with recent collaborations including Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus. With the critical success of “The Epic,” it is exciting to wonder what Washington will release next. Fans of jazz and spiritual vibes will enjoy Kamasi’s sound.
